Govt of Punjab School Education Department has announced Saturday as weekly holiday in all schools. Now there will be only 5 working days in schools. Monday to Friday will be working days and Saturday Sundays will be off. New school timings are also scheduled with enhanced timings. New School Timings in Punjab Schools from 15 August 2024
The Government of Punjab’s School Education Department issued a notification on August 10, 2024, outlining the new operational schedules for public schools and staff following the summer vacation, which ends on August 15, 2024. For students, the schedule is as follows:
- From Monday to Thursday, schools operating on a single shift will run from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM. On Fridays, the timing will be from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
- In schools with morning shifts, classes from Monday to Thursday will be from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and on Fridays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
- Double shift or afternoon schools will have sessions from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM from Monday to Thursday, and on Fridays, the evening or afternoon shift will span from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

For teachers and staff, the following schedules apply:
- In single shift schools, from Monday to Thursday, staff are scheduled from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and on Fridays until 12:30 PM.
- Morning shift staff work from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, and until 12:30 PM on Fridays.
- Double shift or afternoon schools require staff presence from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, and from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM on Fridays.
- Additionally, on alternate Saturdays, both students and staff are required from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon for continuous professional development, training, and academic activities.
